Anybody disappointed with their iPhone?
I'm wondering if there are some people in PhilMUG who got iPhones, got disappointed and switched to another phone.
Anyone?

Re: Anybody disappointed with their iPhone?
Dito wala pa kong nababasa na ganyan. Pero sa ibang forum, meron:
I just traded my Iphone over N95 base to sa sarili kong experience ha it took me mgha 3 hours to think kung to trade or not to trade Im happy with N95 na.. the Iphone is good yeah for multimedia lovers etc.. music, surfing etc di ko naman enjoy masyado since may broadband ako sa bahay and Ipod.. Pag massive texter kayo mabubuwisit kayo na gusto niyo na itapon ang phone hehehe.. walang send to many, send to groups etc.. pag may nasend ka message na gusto mo ishare sa madami kailangan ulit ulitin mo yun grabe.. di ka din pede mag text na gumagalaw mahirap hehe.. everything is fine except for the texting part, and walang video..

It's true that the iPhone may be lacking in some aspects like SMS and customization, but for me it still is such a technological work of art. I am happy that I had an opportunity to own one, and nope I won't be trading it in for any other phone anytime soon...well except if it's a 16gb iPhone that's SMS friendly and customizable.

for the price, its hard to get dissapointed...
whats dissapointing though, with such an advanced user interface, 3rd party software takes so long to come up with programs that would make the iphone more appealing! (multiple receipients anyone? sending vcards?)
looking for nokia features in the iphone is sooooooooo gaaaaaaayyyyyy

You have to remember that the iPhone OS is not an open platform. Everything aside from the built in apps are hacks. As such there is no financial gain for a legitimate software developer to make anything for the iPhone. We just have to wait patiently for someone to get around to writing an app for expanded SMS. Or hope that Apple includes those features in a future update.
Personally I'm not disappointed in the iPhone. I guess because I take it for want it is, the first generation of a new convergence device. The newness accounts for the bugs and limitations and being a convergence device you really can't expect it to be perfect in every aspect.

I was a die hard Nokia fanboy and was skeptical of the iPhone up until the moment I started using it. Yes, the Nokia has features, and yes there are more third-party apps for the S60 platform, but those features and those third party apps are often so poorly implemented that I would rather use my less-featured iPhone.
I mean, my N73's interface, which is far less advanced than my iPhone's, takes much longer to load and is generally much more unresponsive. Anyone that has looked for software for a phone knows how much borderline un-useable crap there is out there.
I am much happier with a device that does less but does it all well.

Re: Anybody disappointed with their iPhone?
the disappointing part is no 3G/HSDPA (but ofcourse technical aspects have a valid reason, the battery), for the SMS, it's okay, thats because i tend to call and send sms if i cant reach the person i'm calling.
for the price, i think it is reasonable, but still, if i had not got it for free, i'll wait for the 3G.
