On a PAL flight today, I picked up the current issue of Mabuhay Magazine (which once upon a time was a good magazine).
While quickly flipping through the pages, I noticed a couple of snippets on iPods. One was for an accessory, while the one beside it, I figured was a press release for the new iPod video.
I noticed something wrong with the pic though. The unit in the picture had an iPod with a colored screen, but with the 3G button layout. Obviously, the art department of the magazine is not aware that high res pictures can easily be obtained online (apple.com/pr for starters), so he/she decided to 'update' their current stock photos.
I normally skip reading these things because I usually know more about the product than the articles can mention. This time though, after seeing that made-up photo, I decided to read the text and found what is probably THE MOST irresponsibly written press release on the iPod.
Allow me to correct the magazine (since there's no byline, it's the magazine and not the writer that should be addressed here)
• it's not iPod Video. That's the unofficial name. Officially, It's simply named iPod
• With the wrong choice of words, the writer makes it appear that the new iPod can hold up to 2 million songs, 25,000 podcasts and 2,000 music videos. Those are actually what's available from ITMS.
• Battery life is UP TO 20 hours of music on the 60GB and UP TO 14 hours of music on the 30GB.
• The current 30GB model is not 45% slimmer than the previous model. And the 60GB is not 10% smaller than previous. The correct comparison would be to say the 30GB is 31% thinner and 32% smaller than the current 20GB fourth-generation iPod, and over 40% smaller -- nearly half the thickness of the first-generation iPod. Even the new 60GB iPod—the larger of the two models--at 14mm is more than 12% thinner than the fourth-generation 20GB model. And a lighter, thinner iPod means you can take your music more places than ever.
• The new iPod DOES NOT come with a dock
• Microwarehouse does not have a dash in its name.
This is way bad. It's so irresponsible of a prestigious mag like that to allow work like that to be published. Perhaps the writer hasn't heard of the Internet?
hehe...baka thats a new version of the ipod specially made for mabuhay look, its a video with the 3rd gen controls. or maybe they souped it up to hold that many songs
