Powermac G5 RAM
Hey guys,
I've had a dual 2 Ghz Powermac for over a month now and would like to upgrade my RAM. Checked out system profiler and it says PC 3200. Is there a PC equivalent that is cheaper? I had my people ask around and 512MB costs 17k for PC3200 RAM! If i were to upgrade to 4GB that would mean 17K x 8 = almost 100k!!!
Any info on where to get a good equivalent?
Thanks a lot!

Villman sells brand new 512MB Kingston PC3200/DDR400 for P5700...
imo, you can use cheaper generic brands as long as it's the same ram specs that is required for your PMac.. i think double-sided dimms works best.

hello there.
we have a powermac g5 1.6ghz in our office thats just begging for a RAM upgrade.
how come it uses PC2700 RAM unlike the dual 2ghz Pmacs that use PC3200?
can we also use PC3200 in the 1.6ghz Pmac?

I asked PC Corner for RAM for my iMac G5 and I got the following prices;
2pcs 512Mb PC3200 DDR400 DIMM = P 8,000 for generic, P 9,000 for Kingston.
However, I am looking for 1 pc 1GB so I can up my RAM to 1.25Gb.
