Power Mac G5 SMU reset.

I experienced a power outage while working with the studio Power Mac G5 dual 2.7 Ghz. When electricity was back, I opened the G5, resumed work and realized that the Avid Mojo (a firewire video device) wasn't being recognized. I tried connecting other firewire devices- external 2.5" drives won't mount, same with my ipod although it was charging. Checked system profiler and any firewire device couldn't be detected. CPU fans were also blowing constantly.

I immediately did a search on the apple website and found this article- How to reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5. Now my G5 is back to normal. Better buy a UPS already!

Always use a UPS, be careful of the cheapo ones. Pay a little more for a good one that can really protect your computer.
