    Hi mariuo.

My suggestion, save your money and wait for the intel core duo powermac

OR look at this thread and see how a simple mac mini can be a recording studio

Yep, I would go with Kenneth's choice, but if it's between the two you've mentioned, I would choose the dual G4. the 64-bit G5 isn't fully utilized by Mac OS X, and will never be. At least your two processors will be well utilized.

Barefeats speed tests. The dual G5 is of course the fastest, but the dual G4s beat the Single G5s.

i would still suggest that dual core G5 is the best.it has the highest performance in doing graphics and rendering videos.

save a bit more of your money to get a G5.

but since you are a starter, dual G4 is best for you.

    enjoy your mac.

    Allow me to say something.
Using a Dual 1Ghz G4 PowerMac and pass it down to my brother while i have got the 20" PowerPC iMac G5 2.1Ghz. I still find Dual G4 faster in processing thiings like rendering video for example.

G4 still get my vote while of cos, at this point of time, no harm waiting for the intel-based Mac Pro which is rumoured to be round the corner. However, it might just be out of the budget once launched.

Dual G4 is faster ofcourse than a Single G5 processor. If you have the budget, why not get the dual G5? or wait for the upcoming Intel based Macs? But it will be expensive.

I'd go with the G5. All powermacs are upgradable anyway.

    Hello,

This is just my opinion; don't get a G5 now, go for the dual G4. Intel is about to launch their latest chip: Core 2 Duo - this chip will make all others look like Pong Pagong. :-)

Save your money and wait for Apple to come out with the Core 2 Duo (or Core 2 Quadro even?) Power Mac. It won't be long now, Intel will produce a quad-core single chip CPU.
