Default PC133 SDRAM reading as PC100?

I was doing my regular system maintenance and found out that my Quicklsilver 800mhz reads all its SDRAM as PC100? I have checked and isolated each SDRAM module thinking it might be the SDRAM being mis-labelled as PC133 thus performing as PC100. But to my surprise all the RAM modules function as PC100 when they are all PC133?

    Is this a hardware issue?

First window is my Quicksilver's general specs.
Second window is an isolated PC133 SDRAM module.

It's not a hardware issue or problem... coz I also see my PC133 ram as PC100.

I also had a similar experience when the eMac Apple installed PC133/128MB RAM reads as a 68MB RAM in a Beige G3. Sometimes reinstalling or tranferring slots solves the problem. I also read in some tech forum (XLR8URMAC?) that mixing PC133 and PC100s is not adviced.

I just had a long discussion with Apple Hong Kong. Explained to them my issues and they told me that the System Profiler is not always accurate. WHAT!!!!???

Case in point they gave me: the graphics card of one of the customers was reading something else with the System Profiler when it's suppose to be the a good graphics card.

As usual, they gave me a case number, they will investigate and will let me know.

Could this be a problem with Apple System Profiler under Panther reporting the incorrect memory speed? My previous Mac (Quicksilver 733) doesn't have the same issue under Jaguar.

I guess the problem is with System Profiler. Hmmm.

Right now, all 4 memory modules installed in my MDD are being reported as PC2600 instead of PC2700. Weird.

If it is the system profiler, then the rest of the machines in the office should be having the same problem. But my TiBook for instance reads PC133?

any another folks having this problem?

    Default Developments!

Apple's reply and investigation is swift. They will keep us posted on their further investigation.

I heard from Apple Support team and this is the verdict:

The System Profiler's inaccurate readings is being sorted by Apple and assured me that the component, i.e. the RAM's speed is not at all affected, thus the reading really is just "cosmetics".

Case is now closed and we just have to wait when and how this will be fixed.
