    Default no KVM dangerous?

    is it dangerous to switch the cable of your monitor from one mac to another while they're powered on? no KVM ?

    IMHO it is not as there is no voltage but only signal carries on the cable

    Here's a little warning from Apple's support site...

    Some DVI displays, including Apple's aluminium-framed DVI displays, can be unplugged without putting the computer to sleep. If you aren't sure whether your display supports this feature, put your computer to sleep before unplugging the display.

    Taking a risk with expensive hardware to save a thousand bucks on a KVM doesn't make sense.
