Good news: the old G5s will become more affordable.

Bad news: my G4 is now officially crap, and just as inexpensive.

    Huhuhu.

Ugh. I expected more. Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed. And I'm kinda pissed that the low-end model's neutered... again.

BTW, the liquid cooling system is only available in the dual-2.5GHz model.

    • No PCI-X slots on the new dual-1.8GHz model.
    • 4GB max RAM for the new dual-1.8GHz model.
    • Stock RAM should have been 512MB across the board.
    • Still using PC3200 RAM. Should have been PC4000.
    • Still only has support for two internal hard drives.
    • No built-in hardware RAID support.
    • Where's the ATI X800 Pro/XT Platinum and the nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra?

In terms of features, the "old" dual-1.8GHz model is better than the new one. 8GB max RAM; PCI-X slots; 160GB stock hard drive (vs. 80GB); 512MB stock RAM. You can always upgrade the stock 4x SuperDrive to an 8x drive anyway. So if you're in the market for a dual-1.8GHz G5, just go for a brand-new "old" model (and wait for the price to be adjusted first). ;-)

    ~Henjie (still waiting for a dual-3GHz G5 with more kick-a*s features)

Underwhelming. Airport Express was more interesting.

Does this mean there won't be 3Ghz G5's at the WWDC anymore? I thought Jobs promised 3Ghz 1 year after the unveiling of the first G5's...
