Default Mouse replacement for new Mac mini? (formerly: help...)

Guys... I've got a problem well actually its my cousin's problem, He bought a mac mini from america and he sent it back to the Philippines for his family... the problem is that the mouse he got is not working properly (as described--> "the mouse was erratic").

Is there any chance my cousin can get a replacement since his mac mini and all its peripherals are all brand new. As far as I know there is a 1 year warranty on this product. I would really appreciate if anybody would kindly give me any suggestions on how to get this problem sorted out. he already sent copies of the receipt, all he needs now is to get the mouse replaced. ANy ideas? thanks!!

As far as I know, he'll need to ship the defective mouse back to the US for replacement. Warranty for it won't be honored here.

When he says erratic, what exactly is the problem? Its an optical mouse isn't it? Maybe the pointer is jumping around the screen? If so, then it could simply be a case of an optical mouse being used on a reflective surface. Getting a plain colored mousepad will fix it.

yes i think probably that is the problem. mousepad will solve the problem. if it is not an optical mouse, they can buy an ordinary mouse and can still be compatible with Mac

Very true. For the cost of shipping the mouse back to the US, you might as well buy a nice Logitech optical mouse.

Just a question regarding replacement policies - if you bought an Apple Care Protection plan for your mac mini, since the mini is considered a mobile computer, it is covered under international warranty. Could you still have your apple keyboard/mouse/airport express which were bought locally repaired or replaced in local authorized apple stores under the Apple Care plan?

    Read section 1.a. regarding coverage
