Mac mini Airport card transfer to G3 iBook?
Hi guys. My daughter's mac mini is the older kind (circa 2005, 256 MB RAM std, with 2 USB ports). It is not the newer dual core type. It comes with an Airport card. I'm not sure if this is the old Airport card or the newer airport extreme. Can I transplant this card to my Mac iBook G3 366 MHz now running Panther with 320 MB RAM?
The mini also appears to have a Bluetooth card. If I take the airport card off, can we still run Bluetooth on it? Just asking in case Bluetooth works in tandem with Airport.

Hi Berniedd,
Based on your specs, I'm assuming that you own a 2nd edition iBook (clamshell) . These older iBooks use an earlier iteration of the AirPort card (802.11b) while all Mac minis (Power PC or Intel) use the different sized AirPort Extreme ( 802.11g).
I'm afraid it's not physically possible to swap cards.
PS
Bluetooth works separately from the AirPort though.

carlo's right. the short answer is no. for your g3 ibook, your options are to get a USB wi-fi dongle (use the search function here to look for "d-link wi-fi usb" for an idea) and a cheap bluetooth USB dongle as well.
