Default Mac G5 Exploding Power Supply

The power supply of my G5 explode while connected to the APC UPS.
I bought my mac in the USA a month ago for almost 5,000 bucks worth of accesories. I even paid for 3 yr. protection plan for $250 . Because i told the saleman that i will bring it to the Phlippines.

The Mac Center told me it doesnt cover the desktop in worlwide warranty. I feel i'm been rip off. I really like using mac in my editing, but the downtime seems sooo long. :upset:

I called APC and they immidiately replace my APC. I dont know whos to blame knowing its connected to the APC when it explode. I'm using APC APC BACK-UPS CS 650VA 230V dedicated to the G5 only. But they give me a APC Smart-UPS 750VA replacement. I dnt know if the 650VA is insufficient for the G5 2.7. :upset:

That's the problem with overeager salespeople with little or no idea on the product they're pushing. They're only interested in the sale and may not even bother getting informed on the product they're assigned too.

APC has an online utility that recommends UPS that work with their product.

Powermacs sold locally are priced pretty competitively already kaso na lang you have to haggle to get it.

If you're using a Rev A. iMac G5 and got it in the U.S. the power supply is only 110V.

There was some hoopla about it since everywhere else, they shipped the units with auto-switching power supplies.

Just a clarification, is your mac a Powermac G5 or an iMac G5?

He said it was a "G5 2.7", so I assume that it is a Power Mac.

It could be insufficient. Our 650VA for the G4 Quicksilver doesn't work during blackouts. We also had an exploding UPS (1000VA) recently for the same mac. However, power surges in our area occur a lot, including main transformers exploding causing blackouts. So it could be a combination of all these. Let us know if your 750VA works.
