Has anyone used he new intel minis? We own the PPC ones and need a few more but with all the problens of the macbook por im ot sure if its the right time to buy them.
I've got the first ones that arrived here in the PH and no problems so far. It just runs! I even installed XP on a 20GB partition. I hardly use it. But it works for me. Front row though sometimes gets a bit buggy, but it does not affect the overall performance or appreciation of the machine.
do minis have a cable for connecting to vga monitors? i browsed the site and the port didn't look like a vga port...
Minis should work on VGA monitors, in fact they're designed primarily and targeted for switchers.. Don't worry, the loot comes with this DVI - VGA adapter.
I haven't tried it yet for games. I have no Universal Binary games. I tried installing Sim City 4 on it but it did not load. I checked Aspyr's website for an update but there weren't any. As for the heat, no heat problems here. No whining noise or anything. I'll try using my keyboard on it with Garageband and see what happens.

I was thinking of getting a mac mini to hook up to my TV as a multi-media center. does anyone have experience with this? Ideally i'd like to use it as a home computer/server. any tips?
I helped set up a Mac mini Core Duo connected directly to a widescreen Toshiba 55" projection TV with a DVI-to-DVI cable, and to a Pioneer HT system using optical cables. The mini automatically recognized the native resolution of the TV. Front Row looks amazing on a big screen! My brother-in-law watches downloaded TV episodes, streams music and photos from other Macs in their house, and can even occasionally surf the web using his Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Sweet. ;-)
