    Default iMac iSight problem!!

This is regarding the built in iSight in my iMac. For the longest time I haven't been able to use it because it always says this when I run PhotoBooth: Photo Booth cannot open because no camera is attached or the camera is in use by another application. I tried quitting everything, but still to no avail. I figured that I may have installed something, but I can't track it anymore. I used the activity monitor in utilities to quit all the apps which I think can be stopped, but I still can't run it. I've also tried restarting it and running Photobooth first. Any thoughts?

Here's a list of my processes after quitting those that I think I can do without for now. I just want to know why the iSight isn't working. I also disabled all of my widgets except for the Stickies widget..

could be one of your external usb devices conflicts with it (check under system profiler if built-in i-sight is there).

any update on this? I have a macbook core 2 duo and have the same problems. No isight listed in the system profiler and have found little help on the web. It was suggested that I reset my PMU and my PRAM but it didn't help.

My isight works in windows via bootcamp btw so its not a hardware problem. Is there a way to force refresh the USB detection in Tiger?

reformatting everything sounds harsh. i hope there is an easier solution. i have the same problem on my black macbook, isight is being used by another application even if it is not. it happened right after i updated to 10.4.10. when i use old "powerPC" programs like "camgrabber" the isight works. but when i use photobooth or ichatAV it says the isight is in use by another application even if it is not.

i've tried resetting PRAM, rebooting in safe mode, repairing permissions, re-updating 10.4.10, and creating another user profile. still no isight for photobooth or any "universal" programs.

    help!
