Got to manhandle the 20" version last Saturday at AppleCenter in Mega, along with most of the PhilMuggers who went to the iLife event.
Initial impressions:
- the 20" seems smaller than it should be; I guess the narrow bezel makes it appear smaller
- it's a bit thicker than I thought; somehow that detracts from the Wow Factor, at least for me
- it gets pretty warm after a while
- it doesn't move up or down like the lampshade iMacs, it just tilts up and down; I don't know why I feel it should and why I'm disturbed it doesn't
- it's weird that I'm slightly underwhelmed; maybe I just need to see the 30"
- I prefer the older plastic-and-gray-stripe design
- it would look damned fine on my desk anyway
*I read my own post over and realized what I felt was weird about this new display - it's just not ...Apple-y. I don't know how to explain it better than that.

I had the opportunity to check out these new apple displays as well. The 23" at the Palo Alto Apple Store and the 30" at the SoHo Apple store in NYC. Aside from the HUGE screen space the screens offer, I too am weirdly disappointed. Somehow I was expecting more from Apple. Something like.. being able to rotate the display vertically and having the screen change automatically, kinda like the Tungsten T3. I too kinda wished the display was 'imac-like' in the sense that I could move it up and down...not just tilt.
Am I being too demanding or are these new displays from Apple just not quite innovative enough? hehe

Be careful of what you wish, you just might get it. I read in the UK version of Macworld, that 3rd party suppliers will come our with a base that will allow rotation 360 degrees. Apple will only come out with the static base it has and the wall mount version
Now we need to figure out some sorta program that will adjus the desktop to fit the vertically oriented screen.

Just realized that New Vision is selling them for HKD200 more than list price, should be only HKD10,500 for the 20"er, HKD15,900 for the 23"er and HKD26,900 for the 30"er...
Just got my 20"er for HKD10,500...
