Later this year Intel will be introducing pin compatible upgrades to its Core 2 and Xeon lines, except instead of two cores these processors will feature four. Codenamed Kenstfield (Core 2) and Clovertown (Xeon), Intel's new quad-core processors will dramatically increase the amount of processing power you can have in a single system. Re: Clovertown (true quad core Xeon) works on Mac Pro Although you won't be able to do a processor upgrade on your MacBook Pro, it might be possible to do so on the other Mac models. Anandtech was able to upgrade the current Mac Pro from dual-core Woodcrest chips to the quad-core Clovertown chips (unreleased engineering samples).

Re: Clovertown (true quad core Xeon) works on Mac Pro kensfield is a desktop processor. Apple only uses server & notebook processors. there are no desktop processors in any of the apple products. kensfield is a desktop chip.
