Best place to buy memory for Mac Mini?
I will hopefully be getting my Mini within the week. I was just wondering where would be the best place to buy memory for this baby. Is it ok to buy the ones being sold at Villman? And do I need one with ECC?

Yup, it's okay to buy from Villman. Just make sure that you're getting the correct module (PC2700 DDR333, aka PC333 in Villman-speak).
Nope, you don't need ECC modules.

You can also go for the TwinMos module for P3,500.
For branded modules, any price below P4,000 is already okay. You'll end up spending more if you buy online due to the shipping cost.

you can use either DDR333/PC2700 or DDR400/PC3200 dimms... it should be NON-ECC, Unbuffered and CL2.5... better stick to branded ones like kingston.

I'm contemplating  as well!
But I thought the Mac mini's RAM isn't user installable, and should be installed only by an authorized Apple Technician?
Does this apply to the actual installation only, to avoid voiding the Apple Care Warranty? :x:
And/or does this apply to the actual RAM also to be installed, and hence, should be Apple branded only?
Anyone? :shy:
Thanks.

No, you can use any brand of memory, as it is very very unlikely that a memory module will destroy your mainboard. Also, Apple says that you can install it yourself for as long as you do not destroy anything in the process, and if you don't, warranty will not be voided.

Just a little tip:
Better to buy Faster RAM (DDR400 over DDR333) to prolong your investment. Fast RAM can work slower, Slow RAM can't get faster.

No one except an Apple Authorized reseller is allowed to open a Mac Mini, if you want to retain your warranty or APP.
this is unlike other desktop macs where upgrading RAM doesn't void your warranty.
that said, if you're handy with a putty knife and don't leave any marks...

Yikes!!! But the Apple store in Greenbelt 1 will only upgrade your mini's memory if you bought the modules from them. Their 512 MB module costs 15 K while the 1 gig variant sells for 25 K. Are there other authorized centers who will upgrade the RAM for a fee instead?

Ynzal.com sells 512mb memory for less than P8k - Kingston brand. They can also install for you and they are authorized service center.
