ATI Radeon X1900 XT or GeForce Quadro FX 4500

which of the two would you recommend for the MacPro? which is the more powerful one and why? what's the stereo 3d?

MacPro intended to be used for video editing, layouting, photo editing and digital art.

need to make an intelligent purchase guys. any advice would help. the price difference of the two is very hard to go unnoticed.

Both will perform as well for the purposes you mentioned. However, if you're to choose one over the other and you're looking for a point of departure between the two: Radeon XT for gaming, Quadro for CAD / animation.

so if i do not intend to do CAD or 3D animation it's better to get the radeon and save the extra cash? but for flash animation it's more than enough right?

how about the stereo 3D? what is it? apple seems not to be telling much about it and it's uses.

Since you'll be using it mostlly for video editing and 2D artwork, i suggest you get the Quadro. Its a workstation bred GFX and its more suitable for your 2D/video rendering needs. For more 3D needs, (games, 3d apps) get the ATI 1900XT

I'm, sure you're familiar with 3D movies, right? Video cards with Stereo 3D are enhanced for these types of videos, requiring you to use 3D glasses.

By the way, what brand of video card with Stereo 3D are you referring to? Just curious.

so the improvement of performance if i get the quadro over the radeon will be felt? as in very obvious not just a whisk of betterment of one over the other? so it will be the ideal video card for 2D work most of the time?

aaahhh. i am able to get a small chunk of understadning of it. this is how apple describes it "One of the most advanced graphics cards available, it has an integrated stereo 3D port, so you can use stereo goggles for stereo-in-a-window visualization applications." i am unable to fully absorb what they are trying to say hehehe. been out of the vid editing business sometime since a short digression of personal business. so i don't understand this latest technology yet. oh btw i'm refering to the quadro video card. it has the integrated stereo 3D port. i was wondering if this is the only feature it had over the ati video card. and if i ca utilize well this technology. hard to to invest in a technology that you can't use. sorry if i'm asking too much i just want to make sure that i get this purchase right. it's very expensive and i really want to plan everything before i buy it.
