Default Is your white power adapter\'s hook broken?

Don't feel so bad, you're not alone.

Quick survey lang--how many of you have broken off the little retractable hook/s of your power adapter? Did you break one or both? How'd it break?

I just broke one of mine. I almost dropped the adapter and caught it by the cable, which tugged on the hook and broke it. It's still in place though, but it doesn't retract unless I align it.

IMHO, the hooks are too flimsy.

Nope, because I haven't used it since I got my 'Book.

If what i'm doing is right...I use it to hold my power cord in place.

If you haven't played with your adapter yet...those are the two retractable hooks at the two end corners of your adapter.

i use them all the time (i have two of these white cubes) and so far they've held up pretty well. but then i don't keep them open when the adapter's in use (as in elbert's photo because i always use the full length of the cord. they're very handy for stashing the adapter away neatly in a bag.

the design actually goes back to the gray bricks that were the powerbook duo adapters, from the early '90s. fwiw, those "hooks" broke off, too.

Hehehe... I didn't actually knew that they were there before I saw Poch's Power Adaptors. It's an amazing feature by Apple but they ARE flimsy!

I do not play with it so I can't actually feel its flimsiness/flimsyness (is there are word?)...since i'll "buka" it din naman again and again.

He he, I 'opened' them and wound a bit of cable around for the sake of the photo. As I write this, it's just like you described. Closed, with me utilizing the full length of the cord.

I guess we should just be thankful that they even thought of having this nifty feature. I've been through four 'books, and with each one of them, I managed to brake the hook.

I know they're flimsy because I wound the cord too tight once, and it just snapped.

Mine just broke off a while ago. Apple should really make these hooks more sturdy. It's one of my favorite features of the power adaptor.
