Default Is it worth adding another 1GB of memory?

    Hi,

I know this is something that is answerable if budget permits and not a really practical move, but, how would the new Powerbook G4 17" react to a 2GB RAM?

Currently i have 1 GB in there, would it change dramatically in speed and performance if I add another 1 GB of RAM in it?

    Your thought counts.

    Regards.

oh gosh... you're upgrading to 2GB?! hehe... anyways, if you work with mostly videos (like editting) and have a lot of applications open 1GB is more than enough. you should observe your pb first while doing these task then maybe you can decide if upgrading to 2GB is really necessary

There is no such thing as having 'too much' when it comes to RAM. If you can afford it, go for it, especially the kind of work you do will benefit from it. You won't feel so much of a difference in basic applications and usage. It's when you start heavily multitasking and running the more 'demanding' applications (i.e. Photoshop) that it becomes obvious.

But really, most people brag about 1GB of RAM.

Like Elbert said, go for it if you afford it.
I have 1 G memory in my 15 inch powerbook here, Normally, I have 8-9 application open, I notice a slow down noticebly in my expose and tasking, sometimes software program chokes.
I am considering a 2 Gb memory in my next purchased of powerbook, since I am using my computer day and night and for years. I think its worth it.

now there's an itch i'd like to scratch! but really,if your not into video editing/graphics-intensive applications, it's overkill.it's money better spent on other peripherals...but then again you can always donate it to me :P

hehehe, katuwa yung mga nagpapa adopt hahahaha

seriously, i am thinking of the practical side din eh. Peripherals needs investment as well. I'll think about it, but it's really tempting to have a maximum amount of RAM in your powerbook

By the way, yung 17" ang hirap hanapan ng bag na leather ahhh, sikip. Is it because it's a widescreen notebook?

it depends on what apps do you normally use and how your current setup responds to your needs, compare to the scenario of having a 2GB ram and how it'll affect you computing tasks.

i'm running 6 apps (mostly imaging tools) all at the same time on a frail 512 mb ram. would you consider giving it to me for humanitarian cause
