what to do for usb 2.0?
hey muggers.
my 17" Albook only has usb 1.0. is there a way for me to upgrade one of the slots to usb 2.0? is there a usb 2.0 pcmcia card that's compatible with the pc card slot?
autofilling my iPod shuffle with usb1.0 is painfully slow, so i'm looking for a quick fix. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

You can use basically any USB 2.0 PCMCIA card on your Albook. Should be no problem, but check the dox just to be sure.

Note though that many USB 2.0 PC card adapters do not supply enough juice to recharge your iPod; your best bet would be to find one that includes an AC adapter in the package to supply enough power to the USB ports. This is necessary lest you run down the power of your iPod's internal battery while syncing.

Oops, I just read now that you own an iPod Shuffle. Since the Shuffle is flash-based (i.e., has no internal hard drive with moving parts), it's unlikely that you will run down the battery when downloading music, esp. due to the fewer number of files to be transferred. As such, it shouldn't really matter whether your PC card adapter has an external power supply.

I got a generic one for my TiBook for 1,850 pesos at MegaMall.
I tested it though, with an external USB 2.0 drive. If it mounts, then transfer something in it and out of it to your desk top.
It is best if you get the more expensive ones the combo USB 2.0/Firewire, they usually have a DC power cord usually connected to your USB 1.0 port. Test it also in the same way !
Cheers,
