Default Watch Out For Stolen iBook

    Hi muggers,

My friend's iBook was stolen recently.

Here are the specs, just in case someone tries to fence it or have it serviced:

12" iBook G4/800 (she's unsure about 800 as processor speed)
    Serial #: UV425072QP

While on the topic, here are some articles on how to prevent theft and what to do if it happens:

And here are some programs that will help you recover your mac:

Would you know the circumstance of how she lost the Ibook?

    Default How it was stolen

The iBook was near an open apartment window and probably snatched from outside. The charger and bag were not taken. Looks to me like the work of a common thief who just happened to see the gleaming whiteness and couldn't resist. If only macs weren't so good-looking...

yeah....just rememberd some punks stole the 1ghz titanium powerbook of my former boss just last year in our office. They came in a group and were asking questions to distract my officemates so that one of them could sneak in and steal any valuables including laptops. :upset:

Just a warning to all of you not to leave your cellphones, ipods, and heaven-forbid your macs lying around in the office.

Now this just reminds me of a thread about laptop insurance. This would've been covered by it if she had one right?

I think that the laptop insurance would only have covered robbery and not theft - probably to discourage sham claims.

Sorry to hear that Cayo, reminds me of what happened to my girlfriend...she had her Powerbook AND iPod stolen in the same week! And I was the the one who bought her iPod...sakiiiiiiiitttt. :broken:

Apparently there are a lot of iBook/ Powerbook robberies here in Sydney. A disgruntled PC syndicate perhaps?
