Hello peeps ^_~ i want to know if there is an attachment available via usb so i can connect my clamshell ibook to an lcd projector? If so, where can i order it and how much is it? im sure u guys know that it has no video out whatsoever, so im just wondering or wishfully thinking if there is a solution to this limitation?
    Peace!

it depends on which clamshell you have. the very last models, the iBook/iBook SE (FireWire) featured a video/audio out port (a standard miniplug), yup the same port where you plug in your earphones or speakers. Not exactly VGA and you'd need a standard miniplug to RCA connector, I believe (you know the video/audio out/in things behind your TVs and VCRs). I tried it once on our 22" TV. Not the best picture

Don't believe any other clamshells have video out capabilities, usb or otherwise. I could be wrong though.

    Hi Hsu,

If you have the last clamshell iBook model that has a firewire port then it does support video out. Its the same port you plug your earphones. You need this cable which is available at Apple Center (last I checked). Its a bit expensive though, around 1k I think

Most LCD projectors have RCA jacks (red, white, yellow, sometimes black) so you can easily plug in.

If you have the SE or the Tangerine clamshell, then try calling LMK or other resellers and ask if they have Eskapelabs MyVideo.

btw, you don't need to (and please do not) post the same question in other sections. I combined your other thread to this one.

Hi! thanks for the info...but my ibook is the 300mhz 3gb stock model - the first clamsell ibook. So i guess there's no video support for this machine?

Yup. Then something like Eskapelabs MyVideo is your only option.

If so, would it be worth it, Kenneth? I mean, is the output quality acceptable enough for presentations? thanks again ^^

For presentations, yes I believe so. I saw a demo of it once, but that was years ago. As I recall the results were pretty good. If you really need it for presentations, then I'd say its a good investment.
