vertical line on the screen
I have a 10 month old 12" iBook G3. and when i booted this morning, I noticed a vertical gray line (a pixel wide), about an inch and a half from the left side of the screen. I waited for my desktop to start up and see if it could disappear, but it didn't. I tot, maybe a deskop bug and it just affects the background so i tried opening an app and slide it by the vertical line and see that it's on top! I tried adjusting the brightness of the screen and it did nothing. the gray line doesn't affect black and or anything with a lighter color.
I tried nudging the screen with my thumb and noticed that the line is fading. the liquid display seems to disolve the line. But it's not completely removed. I rebooted the computer and found the line starting to fade til its gone.
I had this problem type of problem when my notebook was about a month old. I noticed a square gray color on the screen (about 2x2 pixels) and when I rebooted its gone.
What gives? could it be related to the logic board thingy Apple says on its website?

in a laptop, that's usually a sign of a failing or a strained video cable, which passes through the connection between the screen and the rear of the 'book, and is subject to great stress.
it'll come and go--pressing here and there will affect the cable a certain way--but one day it just might stay. if your ibook is 10 months old, my serious advice is, beg, steal, or borrow, but go out and get applecare as soon as you can, before the 1-year period expires on your warranty (or heck, if it's still under warranty, have it looked at pronto; that cable just might go soon).

same symptom i had before my logic board died! better bring it in for service while still on warranty.

... is there a control panel/options setting i can enable so that prospective buyers/switchers such as myself will not be able to read posts such as this ???

i think there's nothing wrong for any probable/ switcher/ buyer reading posts in the country's most sought macintosh help desk.

not everything is perfect. not all apples are made equal. even if some machine has flaws, it is still way better than a windows based laptop.
