    Default System Profiler

Would the system profiler show both the firewire 400 and 800 bus if you have them? My pbook only detects the 800.

Peter, System Profiler will only show one FireWire bus coz in PowerBooks with both FW400 and FW800 ports, both are on the same FireWire bus. The bus itself is capable of speeds at up to 800Mbps, which is what System Profiler will report. The difference then is with the ports themselves (6-pin for powered FW400 and 9-pin for powered FW800). :-)

I'm guessing that even though I have both a Firewire 400 and 800 port, my PB only needs one bus, the faster one.

    Talaga? Thanks Henjie.
I'm trying to determine if my firewire bus is defective since it won't detect the eMac when in target disk mode. Same thing the other way around. Defective cables is out of the question. I've been doing target disk mode since I got this Pbook months ago and it is only now that it failed me.

Thanks too Cyberprince. It also took me a long time typing my reply to Henjie. nag reply ka rin pala.
