question about pismo ram
i was looking through the net trying to check what kind of ram a pismo uses and saw that it can take either pc 100 or pc 133 sdram. just want to confirm if this info is accurate i always thought that these were 2 different sizes and were not interchangeable...
thanks

Hi there!
As long as the memory type (SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, SDRAM SO-DIMM, DDR SDRAM SO-DIMM, etc.) is similar, then there's no problem in using faster-rated memory modules on a system. :-)
In the case of the PB G3 Pismo, stock RAM is PC100 SDRAM SO-DIMM but PC133 SDRAM SO-DIMM modules will also work. Memory modules are designed to run at the rated speed as well as at slower speeds when needed. When installed in a PB G3 Pismo, the PC133 SDRAM SO-DIMM modules will throttle down to PC100 speed. Kinda like using USB 2.0 peripherals on a USB 1.1-equipped computer. ;-)

Same size, apester (144 Pin)l. I had a hard time looking for a pc 100 so dimm ram, but the 133 are quite a plenty. i'll u2u you the names and contact numbers of these people who more than willingly lent me their RAm and try it out with a G3 233 iMac I tried upgrading for a friend. I certainly hope that they haven't sold them yet. All of those I tried were 256 MB. I hope that's what you need. If not, then maybe you could try getting it on-line from Memory X.
Here is a good reference for your upgrade.
Good luck.

SDRAM is a synchronous dynamic random access memory delivers bursts of data at high speeds using a synchronous interface.
- Single Data Rate (SDR)
- 168pin DIMM
- 168pin Reg. DIMM
- 256MB 144pin SODIMM x64bit
- x72bit
- TSOP
- BGA
- 3.3V CL2, CL3
You need the 144-pin SO-DIMM module. 168-pin module = regular DIMM = desktop memory. :-)
