    Default powerbook batt prob

    i just bought a brandnew 12" 1.33 powerbook from a local reseller and it's hard not to compare from my previous 12" 800mhz ibook. Both are G4s. I can't help but notice that my pbook batt runs shorter (i just timed it at 3 1/2 hrs just playing iTunes without the bluetooth etc). My ibook before can play 2 dvds without completely draining its juices. I have both tried calibrating the battery and closing all unneccessary applications... but i still don't pass the 4hour mark which for me is reasonable.

    Dude, all powerbooks have battery life just like that so don't panic.

    Ibooks really have up to 5-6 hours of battery life (as posted on the apple site). Battery life is really an advantage of all ibook models.

    Hello everyone, Mac newbie here! First post ko din ito.

    I got a 12" PowerBook G4 just last week. I noticed na parang may problema ang battery ko. When my battery meter is anywhere below 50%, the PowerBook would immediately go to sleep and won't wake up. It will only wake up when I connect the AC adaptor, then the battery meter will display 0%, meaning the battrey was completely drained all of a sudden from 30-40%. This has happened 4 times already.

    The last time it happened, I noticed that the internal fan turned on all of a sudden right before the power drained.

    The other 2 times it happened, when I turned on the PB, a dialog mouse for connecting a Bluetooh mouse appeared (battery meter around 30%), then when I clicked the Quit button, the PB died/slept. Same thing, when I attached the AC cord 0% ang meter.

    Help naman. Is this a battery issue or is something wrong with my PowerBook?

    Hi hedges, i'm experiencing the same thing but my laptop's 2 years old and in need of a new battery! Just trying my best to work this way til i can afford a new battery, (local resellers are quoting 13k for a new battery as these tibooks are old stock na and they will have to order the batt fom Singapore) It cuts out at around 50%.

    If your unit is new, i suggest you return it right away to where you purchased it so they can either replace the battery or the unit.

    @hedges

    Maybe the settings in your Power Management has your PB to go to sleep mode when it reaches 50%. It wouldn't hurt to take a look at it. ^_^

    This used to happen with my 2-year old battery. Problem disappeared when I finally replaced it. As much as possible, don't let your battery drain completely. Draining Li-ion batts completely shortens their life. How old is your battery?
