my frustrations with my ibook
i'm really getting frustrated with my ibook. last week, i was listening to my mp3s in my ibook while surfing the net then all of a sudden, my screen froze and i can't do a force quit. so i had to do a force restart. when i restarted, there was a question mark that appeared in my screen so i just turned off my screen and then waited for around 30mins. i turned on my ibook and i was able to login again so i opened my itunes again and began surfing. after around 10-20mins, my computer froze again so i had to do a force restart again which ended up seeing a question mark during startup. i waited for some time again before starting it up again and it worked.
this happened to me 3 times already so i got worried and brought my ibook to apple center immediately last weekend. they just re-installed everything and observed it for a day then i got it back the next day.
last night, it happened again. i was just listening to my itunes then suddenly the music stopped and i tried doing a force quit but it wouldn't allow me so i had to do a force restart again. and now, the question mark is appearing again.
i have no idea why my computer keeps freezing when i'm just playing music from itunes or just surfing the net. i'm thinking if it's the itunes software which is causing it since it is the usually the application that firsts hangs or usually opened when my computer freezes. is my hunch correct? i plan to bring my ibook again coz a month ago, when that question mark appeared during startup, i wasn't able to retrieve all the files in my hardisk since apparently, apple center had to replace my entire hardisk. and by the way, my ibook is just 2 months olds. i wonder if i got a lemon here coz it sure is giving me headaches i didn't expect before i made the switch.

Might be a problem with your hard disk.

Or memory. Sometimes removing and reinserting them helps. Might be for contact.

It could be a RAM problem also... I'm sure AppleCenter will make it work. Keep us updated.

Does the problem occur only when iTunes is playing a particular song? There was a time when the iTunes on my iBook would hang while playing a specific track. I deleted the track then re-imported the song from the CD. The problem did not reoccur.

quasar: nope, it hangs on different songs in my itunes. also, my hardisk just got replaced by a new one last month coz the original one crashed only after a month of use.

i just called apple center today, they said the problem could be the songs in my itunes are corrupted that is why it is hanging. i'm just wondering why it hangs on differents songs. they want me to delete all the songs in there and just import it again. i'm thinking if there was some other way since i already have 6gig worth of songs in there which is quite tedious to import again.
