My APX Card just went kaput!!
anybody ever experienced this?
as I was playing WoW, my Lappy suddenly displayed the please reset your mac message (displayed in 4 languages I believe). so I restarted and upon reboot, I found that my WiFi card can no longer be found.
I tried taking it out and putting it back again but no dice.
I double checked to see if it can be found in the system profile and it can't...
grrr.... I"m leaving on a trip now I don't think I can bring my lappy

I have experienced that most of the time on my previous iMac 333, and a PowerMac G4 and it was the memory (RAM) causing this. But in your case, the AirPort card got zapped... Oh the pain.

Hey Maverick, that's a real bummer. Am just about to buy one for a colleague.
Hope it is one of those "toyo" electronic unknown thingies. Hope it works again when you come back from your trip. Do keep us posted.
Cheers and Bon voyage

Thanks Tom... I sure hope it's just the card and nothing else

two days ago i experienced a similar incident on my wife's emac. i had just come home from work & i wanted to do a little browsing so i chose to do it on my wife's emac. i woke the emac from it's sleep and clicked the airport icon to turn it on but as soon as i clicked the airport icon i got the restart message, "you must restart...blah blah blah". since i couldn't restart from the menu because you couldn't click anything on the screen i turned off the unit by holding the power button for a few seconds. after i had shut down the emac i turned it back on and i was able to start the airport without a hitch and i was able to use it without any other incident that day. yesterday, the same thing happened in the morning...the emac would give you the restart message. then, later in the afternoon when we clicked on the airport icon the airport card could no longer be found. checked thru system profile and used the airport utilities all to no avail. also tried reinserting the card a few times and still nothing happened.
since i had already ordered an airport card for my mom's emac from my suki & knowing that it could be picked up this afternoon i decided to pick it up already & test it on my wife's emac. i thought that maybe my wife's airport card was defective. unfortunately, the new airport card couldn't be found also. is this just a coincidence or is there a new virus out there that we don't know about?
i'll be bringing in my wife's mac tomorrow and i'll obviously mention your case also. hmmm, this is really strange.
