    Default Maximum RAM

Sounds lika an attack from an arcade game no?

Anyways, how would I know if my PowerBook's capable of attaining its maximum RAM? I've heard that there're some models that cannot exceed 1 gig and I don't want to buy a 1 gig RAM (if ever there's such a thing. I'm not too sure if there is) and get stuck with not being able to use it with my 12 incher.

    Thanks guys.

There are two ways to find out the maximum capacity of your machine:

    1) Ask Apple - read the technotes for your particular model. Note however, that this info quickly becomes outdated: Sometimes the computer can support larger capacity modules than its original spec.

    2) Ask other users on the web for their experience.

Note however, that while a RAM module twice the size of the supposed maximum size may work with a particular model, it is not an assurance that it will work with a particular unit.

Some specific units simply will not work with larger than spec RAM chips, even if other people have been successful in usin them with their machines.

hmmm... a 1 gig RAM IS available, though am not so sure if there is in the philippines. I asked Ditoy, and he said wala. I think you have to order it abroad.
Maccess is so on the dot, you have to check your model's specs to find out the RAM capacity of your unit, muna.

Though 1.33ghz 12 " powerbook, alam ko, pwede. In fact if you visit the apple store, and order a 12" 1.33 ghz powerbook, kasama yon sa options. It's built-in RAM is 256mb, then you have the option of adding a 512 mb chip for 768 mb of RAM, or 1 gig chip para ma-max mo yung RAM to 1.2 gig.

Thanks guys! my Powerbook's actually the second-to-the-latest model of G4s. (The 32mb video RAM)

@Maccess: I've visted our local apple store but they themselves don't know the max capacity of my unit.

@Little Al: You know of some people who have the same model as mine with RAM as high as 1.2G?

I have asked around but have not been able to find a 1GB stick of RAM so I might just get it abroad at some place like memoryX.
