Re: laptop theft in coffeeshops? not just coffee shops. a rash of holdups happened early last year in the timog area...apart from laptops, other valuable were being taken as well.
a friend's resto was one of the places held up as well as some coffee shops and convenience stores

Re: laptop theft in coffeeshops? most of the these holdup activities happen to coffee shops/establishments which are in "open" areas. i've heard of stories like these last year and have been taking extra caution. ergo, i usually go to coffee shops, with my macbook, which are inside the malls.
better safe than sorry.
