    Default iPod File transfer

    Hi
Is it possible to use my iPod to transfer large files from my mac laptop to a windows PC/laptop? would i need a certain software for it to run in windows platform?

Im thinking of transfering some old movies to a friend's pc laptop but the file is just too big for flashdrives, plus i dont have a superdrive.

    TIA

No need for special software, just plug the IPOD to your iBook/PB to upload the files to your IPOD (would be faster if you will use the Firewire connection). After uploading disconnect the IPOD. Connect to the PC and download the files.

    Hope this helps.

It is not as easy as that. You need to check if your iPod is Mac or PC formatted. What is the computer you set up your iPod in. If it is a Mac then most likely your iPod's harddrive is Mac formatter and won't be recognizable in Windows. You will need to do a restore on the Windows machine first.

A bit of warning though, you will loose all your data when you reformat your iPod on the Windows machine. Make sure you have all your songs backed up on iTunes.

    Makes sense?

If you're using your iPod to your Mac for synching to iTunes, then the iPod is Macintosh formatted. I think the PC laptop cannot read the iPod unless it has a utility to read Mac formatted volumes.

But if your iPod is PC formatted, there will be NO problem since the Mac can read PC formatted volumes.
