    Default ibook hard disk upgrade

this is for all of you who want your chiclet ibooks upgraded with a bigger hard drive--you can get it done (in a way that won't void your warranty) by powermac center in san juan, 285 p. guevarra (turn right on wilson coming from greenhills; it'll be on your right, red signage, with parking). tel. 725-1411. look for lito for the upgrade.

i brought my daughter's venerable ibook 500 (the very first pinoy ibook, bought in new york in may 2001!) there yesterday to have its 10 gig hd brought up to 30 gigs (thanks, right_stuff!). in at 10, out by 1 pm. clean job. cost me 1,500 (others have paid less--i wonder why, but i wasn't counting).

powermac is an applecare gold service center--you can bring your other hardware problems to them, too.

yup, they did a clean job with my ibook as well.... i had mine upgraded from 30GB (sold to sir Butch) to 60GB... i paid for 1K only and didn't void my warranty... i waited for 4hrs, while sir Butch got the job done in 3hrs (maybe thats what you get when you pay more.. hehehe..)

bottom line is, no void warranty, a reasonable price, superb job, and no need to leave your notebooks for an overnight stay at Apple Center...

    Thanks to Powermac....

thanks for this bit of info sir

the timing is just right - now that i'm starting to realize i might need more hard drive space soon and not sure what the best thing to do would be - get an external drive or just upgrade the one in my ibook. for a while there i wasn't sure how doable the latter would be. really glad to know it's a very viable option

you might want to ask ditoy if he still has any of those 80 gig laptop drives he was selling brand-new for 8.8K--that's a steal. in the stores, a 30-gig one will set you back 5-6K.

imagine what you could do with 80 gigs--video! pix! itunes! work!

hehehe thanks Butch! Of course, hard drive space is always a necessity.

P8700 nalang nga my 1 pc Toshiba 80 gig hard drive, surely compatible with your ibook apester. Just let me know if you want it.

FYI got this at the PC Corner site which is one of the cheapest stores already-

alas, after doing the math, i too shall have to hold off on my impulse. since i'll be gaining only 20 gigs, it won't be worth it to upgarde for now.... maybe when the laptop drives hit 100 gigs?
