    Default Help w/ Powerbook purchase

    Someone's selling me a used 15" 867Mhz Powerbook with 1 GB of RAM for 44K. It has some scratches, no dead pixels and im not sure of the battery's condition. Is this a good buy? How much discount shld i ask for?:wound:

    Yes Ti-Book. it has a superdrive but has no Airport Card and BT.

    sorry, i missed that try offering 40K. the big RAM and the big screen are pluses, and it's a superdrive, but you'd still have to fork out cash for wifi and BT (not that they come standard in any but the high-end models)--plus the tibook's got a reputation for cosmetic problems (paint flaking off) and more seriously, weak rear hinges....

    Are the hinges really that weak? This book is i think 2 years old. Will it break upon regular use? Does apple have replacements for this?

    Early Titanium PB (400/500) do have weaker hinges compared to the 867/1GHz ones. I think they revised the hinges that they used on the newer models.

    I don't think so, cause my friends 867 15" Pbook also developed a hinge problem after two years of using her Pbook. It happened to one hinge only though, but still it damaged and tore away the casing.
