Default HELP! Powerbook refuses to shutdown

Help! My Powerbook refuses to shutdown, restart--- hell, even "About this Mac" isn't working. I tried force quitting it... but it didn't work either.

    The SLEEP button works though...

Application seems to be working fine, too---

I just can't get it to shutdown and restart...
What do I do--- HELP PLEASE!

Try pressing on the power button until the power shuts down.

Tried that, it didn't work--- thanks anyway. Brought my Little Al to the nearest Apple Center, turns out it hanged then crashed. I had to leave it there for a while.

    Hi Little Al,

Next time this happens, just do a force shutdown. Hold down the power button until your mac shuts down completely. Wait a couple seconds and tap the power button once. Your mac should start up normally.

    Hi Danieldy,

Thanks for replying... I tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds, and nothing happened. I tried force quitting, restarting, selecting the shut down command under the apple--- all in vain. The only thing that worked was the sleep button.

Well.. hopefully my get my Little Al within the week. Good thing I backed up all my files and docus.

the last, extreme option would have been to unplug the albook and remove the battery

oh, and did we forget the old "three finger salute"?--control + command + power button? that's actually how we usually get out of freezes and crashes. it's been around for so long (since pre-OS X days) that we've tended to forget that newbies don't know it. so remember that for next time:

control, command (the apple button), power--all at once
