to buy! what next?
first of all, i would like to thank you all for patiently answering my queries and encouraging me to still go for MAC. I think, the saying "once you go MAC, there is no going BACK" is true...
now that i am getting the new PB 12" SD (ordered it na!!!), what stuff do i buy to make it's life longer? what protection does it need from it's everyday trips from home to school?
actually, i just want to shop for anything that will go along with my arriving PB.
what recommendations will you guys suggest for a:
1. bag/sleeve (do i need both?)
2. keyboard protector
3. trackpad protector (washable?)
4. screen protector (overkill?)
5. coolpad (do i need it?)
6. iPod (hehe) (i like it!!!)

Hmmm,
Hard to decide actually, but if I may suggest a "top 3": (besides the iPod of course...)
1) A sleeve (to protect your investment); I've seen that an Incase 12' sleeve fits your particular P'Book perfectly.
2) A bag (to manage to carry all your P'Book paraphenalia, also to protect your investment again), this item tends to be very "taste-specific", but the Crumpler and AGVA bags seem to be getting good press. It depends on what you like actually, it's a wide choice. My cousin uses a TUMI laptop carry-all for his Powerbook, my best bud takes his Apple to work in a Jack Spade Messenger bag, and I use a Bottega Veneta leather one for my iBook.
3) An extra battery. (Simply because you never know when you'll need it.)
Congrats on your new Powerbook pare. *green with envy*

Nice to shop for you lappie !!
... aside from all that you will buy for it, here is the best advice I ever got for a laptop, "Treat it like it is a fragile baby (which it is, fragile) and take utmost care when you plug anything into it and unplug it.
Take care of the screen, nothing heavy on it, and never ever use your laptop with 'chicken fingers,' or any type of finger lickin' behaviour, do not forget to wash your hands before you use it. Ants and little cockroaches are attracted to any bit of food and if they find the hard drive, (for some reason they always find their way into it), you will regret it.
Don't buy a USB keyboard light, it will eventually break your USB jack.
Good luck, and congratulations on your PowerBook!

What kind of bags are you looking? If for everyday use u want to look at crumpler and timbuk2 but if you want a nice professional looking bag, then go get a brenthaven.
For sleeves then radtech powersleeves and if ubuy an ipod u might want to get a podsleeve for it too.
If you want to keep you pb in top shape, then go get disk warrior.

1) Look into the STM Glove, available at @Games in Virra Mall. Am starting to prefer it over the PowerSleevz.
2) Roadtools CoolPad - besides its heat-related advantages, it's also saved many a PowerBook & iBook from the wrath of spilled drinks on the table.
3) For a screen protector, cheapskate me just recycled the cover that came w/ the 'Book in the box.
Guess you're finding out firsthand that buying your PowerBook's not really the end of Mac-related expenses. Instead, it's only the beginning!

The Musical Fruit is 100% right. Once you use one in your USB port, its weight and movement stresses the port as it moves about during regular use, or when you adjust the gooseneck to get it at the proper angle for use (which is a surprisingly difficult thing to achieve), it worries the port so much that it eventually becomes bigger than its designers intended it to be, and everything you plug into it will be loose. Worse, it may deform the port so much that it stops working altogether.
