Well if your itching to get a pb, by all means do.... just have it souped up like mine ANYWAYS... but next year is just a month away right? so that you won't regret it just hold on a tiny bit for the new powerbooks to arrive... maybe you'll see that theres no difference between the two. My bet is maybe a faster processor on the new pbs, Good luck on your decision

    Hi Dino,

I think new Powerbooks will be released soon. Perhaps even at MWSF! If you don't need it right away, I would suggest holding off till early next year.

I agree with the salesperson - this close to January is a very dangerous time to be shopping for a new PowerBook.

Even if there's no major form factor upgrade (like say, from the Titanium to Aluminum) there's still a chance of processor speed bumps, and that always drives prices down.

Default BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY..but

    LIFE is very short.

Unless you are certain that life will be different with what you may miss on the new model, i suggest you get one now.

On second thought, the prices may still further drop if you wait, either way you come out ahead.

Buy only when you can maximize it already.

From my experience: if you want it, buy it. Then don't look back.

If you wait for the next best thing all the time, then you'll never get anything. From the rate upgrades have been happening, there's always something that'll come out which will make you go, "Darn, I should have waited."

    It will never end.

even if steve jobs announces a new G5 powerbook at macworld in mid-january, it likely won't be out in the stores ((esp. local stores) until about april. that's how long it took for the albook G4 to get here, unless (like early-adopter me) you can't wait and order straight from the apple store (it still took a couple of months to get a new PB all the same).

so unless you can wait that long and really don't need a powerbook until then, get one now--or, best compromise, wait until right after macworld, when prices usually drop right after an announcement of a new machine.
