Apple Care Protection Plan
Barangay PhilMug:
My G4 15" powerbook will be celebrating its 1st year birthday by July, and while i've heard of "some" horror stories of 15" powerbooks having problems, most of have been happening within its 12 months warranty period.
Do most of you owners out there buy this ACPP for 2 years at Pesos 20K++???? Is there a real benefit to it? I'm inclined to buying it, but would like to hear from most veterans , and what you guys do.
Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Do all of you have this ACPP??
regards,

I would go for it. AppleCare is peace-of-mind that is worth the money.
And even if you intend to upgrade your PB to a newer, faster model down the road, the resale value of your unit will increase considerably if you sell it with an AppleCare warranty.

take the LCD for example. it will cost you around 40-60k to have it replaced.
so sulit pa ba ang applecare? :P
also, applecare for powerbooks isnt always available. so dont wait till the very last minute.
which reminded me.. need to get one for myself.. hehehe

Its because of your PB!!!
Kai,
The hinge problem you encountered is the main issue why i am considering the ACPP. Points made by you and Vic is enough valid reason, specially the increased resale value. We all know what equipment like this does to one's financial judgement.........

is the ACPP still available?

The Penman
it's always available from any apple dealer, but you can only buy it within your first year of ownership.

I recently had my TiBook casing replaced for FREE. Thanks to Applecare and to my dealer! Now it's as good as new.

Welcome to PhilMUG, Raymond!
When did you buy your Mac? & from whom?
Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, didn't some of the resellers recently factor in AppleCare in their selling price, so that the unit's warranty's actually good for three years?

is it renewable? what about expired apple care on a preowned unit? is it possible to renew? or perhaps buy apple care for an unit that was never under it in the first place? is there any way to get it after your 1st year's ownership passes?
