Affordable Luxuries - the new Powerbooks
got my iBook G4 this xmas and im all smiles lately...
but there is this nagging urge to want some more...and i have to say it is the new, reasonably priced line of Powerbooks!
Entry level 12" is same price as the top of the line iBook 14" in (but the iBook has the Superdrive though). And of course, for the tech hungry, photo-slinging digital mavens, what is there not to love in a Powerbook. In a small population of Mac-philes, you have the bimmer of Macs...currently, I only have the jetta!
Anyway, i placed an order for the iSight...a gift to myself this V-day. Cheesey noh? I was able to get it using my student discount - yay! If only they could lessen the taxes in Canada, it would be a no-brainer.
I have a friend in Manila looking for an entry level PB. Is it true that it costs PhP180K? Yikes, thats a lot! Am the wrong person to ask on where to buy since I have been based in Canada for some time now.
Anyway, for my friends sake, please drop a line and fill me in with your suggestions. Since she is into Advertising/PR, I fully recommended the PB.
I think I have a dormant account in PhilMug but I can't seem to access it. For now, this would be my account
Hope to hear from you soon!
Lonely pinoy in TO,
Johnica

Definitely not for the entry level 12" PowerBook. Tell your friend to try calling any of the authorized Apple dealers listed here. I've personally had experience with LMK, Power Mac Center, and Ynzal. Also remember, all Macs sold here come bundled with Applecare.

Hi Johnica. Entry level Powerbooks start at around P117,000. That already includes 3 years warranty (Apple Care bundled). I would recommend the new powerbooks too but that will really depend on your friend's budget and what he/she plans to do with the computer.
If she does a lot of graphics then I tell her to go for the 15" Powerbook with an additional 512MB RAM upgrade. That way she has lots of screen space and lots of power for all her tasks. If she really isn't a heavy computer user then she can opt for a cheaper ibook instead. It'd still be worth it.
