What's the best free docs/office app?

What's the best free ipad app for editing MS Word/excel documents?
Are they as useful as paid apps like quickoffice or docs to go?

Please recommend something free (or inexpensive) since I also need it for Android

Presently using a free version of Docs to go and there seems to be some issues when the files are uploaded in Google Docs...

On android i've had a better experience with quickoffice, so that's what I bought for the iPad also. Not perfect but it does the job paired with a Bluetooth keyboard. Quickoffice is free on android at least.

You can get any app naman with android for free kahit labeled as may bayad. Pero sa ios may bayad lahat. Mahal na nga mahal pa maintainance mahal pa apps.

just bought Documents2 for $1.99!

However it cannot open my Google Docs files, anyone who has the same experience?

Google Docs is good, because aside from being free, it stores your document on the cloud and accessible on other devices. Downside though is you must have internet access.

I bought Pages and it's fine but my line of work relies heavily on the use of footnotes.
