I'm halfway through level 11 and from my initial airport of San Diego I now exclusively operate in Class 2 cities only including Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Honolulu. I am planning on expanding to Asia and make Manila my next hub.

How exactly does Flight Crew work? I know how to change the name/active flight crew and view the rank, but what do I do?

Currently level 6 in Europe. A lot of the advice I read online is to buy the red/blue airports, but they're so expensive! I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Nope. Nothing wrong with that. That is your goal to buy the red airport. It's class 3.
