    Default iOS 5 Update problem

    Hi!!

Help! I had been trying several times to update my iPhone 4 and iPod touch to iOS 5 and until now had been unsuccessful. After downloading and file is being processed, I always get this message "err = -3259; There was problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out."

I even tried to use the restore option but to no avail.

Your help is very much appreciated.

    Happy new year!

If your're using an anti-virus, disable it first temporarily , then proceed again with your download. Then after downloading, you activate again the anti-virus.

It might be a slow isp. Apple servers are very picky. Try downloading during off peak hours.

A possibility is busy Apple servers. Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 has just come out so a lot of people are updating.

An option is to download the ipsw files manually for each device. While not officially sanctioned by Apple, the files are ok.

Yesterday I downloaded an ipsw file for the iPod Touch 4. 815mb. I just pressed the option key and clicked Restore in iTunes. It opened Finder and I chose my ipsw file.

You can do the same for the iPhone. Note however that these files are device specific. Make sure you get the correct one.

If your iPhone is not factory unlocked, please do your research before updating.

Some folks have been getting that error message lately when updating their apps or downloading apps.

Could be ISP issues or Apple's servers catching their breath. As recommended by Mad Mac, try off peak hours.

Hi, try to manually update your idevice instead of using itunes. Search mo sa net. Basta may iddownload kang file depending on your device. After finishing the download, you back up your idevice, then click shift then the restore button, then locate the file you've downloaded. Make sure it's the latest ios.
