Re: Advice for Motion Graphics Newbie
Hello Motion Graphics experts and gurus!
I'm currently learning Final Cut X and want to do some motion graphics. I would like to do something like these for my video presentations:

Is this possible in Motion 5? I'm considering Apple Motion because it is only 50 USD and I'm sure integrates with Final Cut X very well. Not to mention it has a reputation of being easy to use unlike Adobe After effects.
Thank you for reading this and waiting for your advice!
Ah it looks like I posted this thread in the wrong section. Mods, could this be moved to the Video Editing section? Thank you!

Re: Advice for Motion Graphics Newbie
in your starbucks example, you can pretty much just use FCP/X there. no need for motion. but to answer your question I think it's possible to do with Motion

If you're interested in motion gfx, then i suggest you try adobe aftereffects. Pretty much, its one of the standard tools used in motion gfx. It has great photoshop support and tons of 3rd party plugins available.

I think you'll have more fun using After Effects =)

Yup. I would advice to use After Effects instead. I'm not even sure if Motion 5 supports layered photoshop files right now. I'm pretty sure FCP X doesn't.
If you're gonna be doing a lot of graphics work in the future, nothing beats the combo of Photoshop and After Effects.
The probability of anything happening is directly proportional to its desirability.

Cinema 4D, After Effects, Photoshop, Flash, Adobe Premiere/Final Cut Pro for the win :-)

Re: Advice for Motion Graphics Newbie
I'd suggest sticking to After Effects, because I personally hear more people using After Effects in their post-production pipeline compared to Motion, no matter what editing suite they use.
Though personally, I'm open to Motion and I'm curious about it anyway. Plus its added points for the my skillset. Anyone have any tips or advice for a guy wanting to try out Motion? Any stuff I can do with Motion easier than what I can with After Effects?

Re: Advice for Motion Graphics Newbie
One thing I like about Motion is the record button. You can record (record button) keyframes which make rotoscoping very easy. And, Motion has a lot of templates if you are in a hurry from camera motion, graphics, lower thirds, titles and soon on. The only downside for me is. It eats a lot of memory and HD space.
