Simple set up What do you want to Accomplish anyway?
MBA 11", iMac 20", Macbook 13", iPad2 3Gs + wifi (64GB), iPhone 4 (32GB), iPod Touch 3 (64GB), iPod Touch 2 (8GB), iPod Classic 120GB, iPod w/ Video (60GB), iPod nano, Logic Pro 9 etc.

Simple set up Will you be recording acoustic instruments or amplified sound sources? Or do you just want to mix stuff, while using , recorded files, software instruments or loops for your production, or a combination of all or some?

Re: Simple set up Drop the recording into Garageband, make another track where you record your voice. Pump the 1st track into monitor headphones and sing away!

- Depends on how you like the quality of the recording to be. Normally, just plug the mic into your line in and you are good to go. But for a more quality recording (and proper routing), get an external Audio Interface.
Open Garageband and drop the music in. Make another track for your vocals. Plug in your headphones so that the music goes out there and doesn't go into the mic. Click on the record button. When you here the music in your headphones, start singing into the mic that is plugged into the input. You should come up with a recording of just your vocals.
