Question Shure Studio Microphones: where to buy?

where can i buy studio microphones? you can suggest any good brand but i preffer Shure, i ask my parents kasi na yoon na lang ang graduation gift nila sakin and they agreed. I already looked at Trinoma and even Park Square makati , but there are no studio microphones available. i'll be using the microphone on recording acoustic music in my house because i have a friend who plays guitar well (and also piano, electric guitar, bass) and i will be the one who will sing. i will use my macbook pro for the recording. thank you in advance!

    how about studio microphone stand?

BTW: i did look for similar thread but it seems i cant find any.

my eyes are on these models right now,
    KSM27 CARDIOID CONDENSER MICROPHONE
    KSM44 Large Dual-Diaphragm Microphone

Try Audiophile.. They have branches in Alimall Cubao and Robinson's Pioneer..

If you're gonna use it for recording connecting to MBP, you'll need an Audio Interface that has Phantom Power for the condenser Microphone. Or buy a small mixer that has a condenser mic. But I suggest you buy a decent Audio Interface first.

BTW, if you're using a condenser microphone, you'll need an incredibly silent place to record as it is very sensitive.

@jmtubera: Yes. It is necessary to buy a good Audio Interface. Most condenser microphones require a 48V Phantom Power. And also, condenser microphones uses XLR connections which the Macbook don't have, Unless your buying the USB version of the Samson C02, you won't need an audio interface and/or a mixer.

-Audiophile is the distributor of SHURE according to their website..

i already read shure's manual, and there's an XLR to USB adapter. so no need to worry about that, my only problem for now is the audio interface. hmm, what do you think the price of the cheapest audio interface? i'll try samson. seems convincing

    yes, i'll call them tomorrow.

thank you for the help anyway!

Other than getting just an audio interface, look for one that has mic pre-amps. I think a store in ali-mall sells tube ART mic pre-amps (Tube is always better as some would say). This will help you record warmer and richer takes. Some audio interfaces have mic pre-amps already installed but these are the pricier ones like the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra which is available at JB.

Anyway, like what Jay25 said, you can always get a Samson condenser. I currently own a Samson G-Track which has an audio interface built in. The only problem with the model is the latency.

Oh don't forget your pop filter! Stockings wrapped around alambre or anything round will do fi you want to DIY it.

Once you have your mic, when recording vocals, I suggest that you hang a thick blanket behind the mic to prevent the sound to bounce back from your walls into the mic again.

Anyway, gotta get back to work! Hope I helped!

ok, will take a note on that bro! thanks

yep, in case that shure is not available (or whenever my mom disagree with me because its too expensive), i'll go for Samson, because i think its more easy to use cause its USB. i also heard many good feedbacks on samson,

sir, whats about the latency? im sorry, i have only small information about this but i already tried recording 3 acoustic songs with my friend(guitarist).

haha yeah! ill try that, but i guess my mom wont let me do that. bibili na lang siguro ako ng pop filter, shock mount and a stand hehe

btw i asked Audiophile about the prices of the microphone, here it is:
    (all Condenser Microphones)
    Shure
    PG27: 7,000
    PG42: 9,200

    Samson:
    C03U: 5,200
    C01U: 3,900
    G-TRACK: 7,800

i think ill go for G TRACK(cause its ALL in 1) i just have to be clear about that latency..

thanks bro, you really helped me

latency comes from the word late and the phrase wait-and-see. kaya latency.

but kidding aside, latency means delay. in the case of a mic+audio interface, it is the delay between the signal being recorded (voice, guitar, etc.) and the actual recording, and ultimately, the real-time monitoring of that recorded signal. imagine singing or playing a note, but not hearing it till a half a second later--that is latency.

haha funny sir! i just need a further explanation anyway, thank you sir for the help

does latency also happens in regular studio microphone, i mean even without the audio interface?

    hmmm. its hard to choose.
