Default AUDIOPHILES! Help buying Mic & USB device in HK

    Hey Muggers,

as some of you know I am in the broadcast industry. and with my work being so mobile there have been times I've had to record and send my voice over using MBPRO.

But quality has suffered coz I only use the built in mic and I record in a car with a blanket over me and the Mbpro para less echo or so I thought.

Anyhoo I've been told it's still not the best audio quality even if I use garage band then export to iTunes as an mp3.

So im going to HK this weekend and want to invest and a decent (read: not expensive) yet broadcast quality mic and USB connector.

I heard Tom Lee is a great audio/music store.

Where should i go, what should I buy, and how much should I budget?

sana less than $100 all in
15" MBPRO 2.4 ghz, 2 gb ram, 250 gb HD, Lacie Rugged 120 GB HD, Apple Wireless Keyboard, iPhone 16gb Black, iPod touch 16gb, iPod video 60gb, nokia e51, nokia e61i

Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It’s the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what’s right.

Get the Samson USB mic. Its locally available here and its USB so no need to buy a separate sound card.

    Hello there Kili-Kili Power!

I'm a fan of SHURE Mic's and I made a research regarding your query, hoping this link could help you decide I guess it's a wonderful product.

I think the Samson CO1U is available at Audiophile & maybe JB Music for less than 5k...

TJ, this is a USB mic with seemingly pro-like performance (there's another thread here at philmug about USB mics) and it seems highly recommended. you may want to try this as this is really portable & mac compatible (garageband too!).

I'll give a 2 thumbs up to the Samson USB mic... This is what Girl Shake Boy uses to record vocals! We got it from Audiophile! Tom Lee, I think, has it.

I would suggest you get a Samson Zoom H2 portable recorder

    http://www.samsontech.com/products/p...fm?prodid=1916

It records to SD cards, plugs in directly to your computer via USB, can act as a USB mic (its got FOUR internal condenser mics), shows up in Finder as an external drive, and is so portable that you can leave your MBP behind. The guys at JB Music told me once that your rival network bought a bunch of them for their reporters.

ok, now it's my turn to ask: what credible stores in HK offer these on stock and at a bargain price:

    Samson CO3U
    Samson CO3U PK
    Samson Zoom H2
    Samson Zoom H4/H4n

Audiophile (local dealer) seems to be out of stock lately and someone might be able to buy this in HK. Priority here will be the CO3U.

    Really need help ASAP...

or maybe anyone else knows what local stores have these on stock for about the same fair price?
