Panasonic AG-HMC40
Anyone here have used this type of camera? Planning to get one for our productions.
Do anyone know where could I find one locally?
Thanks

Re: Panasonic AG-HMC40
I would like to bump this up as well. I'm planning to buy one for my family's school videos and presentations. I'm planning to get a unit abroad but I wonder if I can buy one locally for warranty purposes.

Not so good with lowlight situations. That's what I usually hear from users. Why not just a video capable DSLR?
Or try the new Canon XA10.
The probability of anything happening is directly proportional to its desirability.

Ah thanks for the input about the low light performance.
According to the Amazon reviews the XA10 seem to have some QC issues. Can you suggest a good DSLR setup that compatible to the quality and price range of the AG-HMC40 for video?
I'm not really familiar with DSLR video but there are times we need to shoot more then 15 minutes worth of videos for certain events like long presentations. I have read that DLSR have limits in their recording time per clip so thats a problem.

Sony's VG10 and VG20? You can buy an adapter for your Canon lenses for it too so you use your current glass.

I wouldn't suggest the VG series right now... I hear there's still a lot of issues with moire. Also, autofocus won't be as good as a dedicated video camera. And, if you use Canon lenses with the VG cams, you're stuck with manual focus.
If you find the Canon XA10 a bit expensive, you can always try the Canon HFG10. It's basically the Canon XA10 minus the handle with XLR ports and less 32GB storage.

Thank you for this recommendation! The HFG10 looks very interesting. For give my follow up newbie question but since it does not have XLR ports can we still load an external mic such as a Rode shot gun mic on it?
