    Default S95 or LX5

Hi mods, couldn't find relating thread so kindly close if there is one.

I am amazed at the sheer raves over the guys at the LX5 thread.
However, coming from a Nikon DSLR cam see my story here

I'm afraid I might not be able to fully utilize the LX5 complexities.
Or is it easy to use? lady-user here so aperture & the likes confuses me haha

Budget wise, their almost the same price Ph18-21k and almost exactly same specs.

But overall, how about the image quality?

    Will appreciate points & view

    Thanks!

Deciding between the two, as well. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks

Sa totoo lang you can't go wrong with either one. Image quality is comparable between the 2 and the choice between the 2 boils down to subjective preferences. If you can borrow both cameras and give them both a try then you can try for yourself which one you like better. It's like choosing between Pepsi or Coke. At least that is how it feels like for me hehehe

Thanks danielg. Yup, from what I've read, both are very similar. Must admit, I am leaning towards the S95 primarily because it is more compact.

The LX5 has 24mm wide angle lens, the S95 has 28mm. Is that a big deal? Sorry, no clue what those are.

    Thank you.

the 4mm difference is not a big deal.

my choice would be the s95. i've been a canon user since 35mm film, before the digital era. danielg is right though, you can't go wrong with either.

With the ph3,500 difference between the 2 is the Lx5 justifies its worth vs S95?

I think I need to head to some stores to test both units.

The deal breaker for me was the 24mm vs the 28mm. and the aperture (3.3 vs 4.9) at the long end (not sure which aperture the s95 is at 90mm)

Try to google sample pictures both at 24 and 28mm to see the difference on wide end, also compare the 90 and 105mm on the long end

both are great cameras but my vote goes to the s95. it's more compact.

but danielg is right, it's like coke vs pepsi depends on the taste or the eye for that matter

I'd go for the one with the faster lens; why else would you get a compact camera? To be able to shoot on the fly. But as mentioned above, bought are excellent cameras. It boils down to personal preferences.

since both of these cameras are advanced point and shoot cameras with manual controls, they have more settings that most p&s cameras. However, they do have intelligent auto modes but that kinda defeats the purpose of paying a premium for these cameras.
