Er... Just because it has no reflex mirror system doesn't mean it doesn't have a shutter and shutter life nor does it make it a Point and Shoot camera po. We must not confuse the mirror with the shutter mechanism. The mirror's function is to reflect the image seen from the lens to the pentaprism/pentamirror so that we can view whatever we point the lens at through the optical viewfinder. The shutter's function is tot allows light to pass for a determined period of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film or a light-sensitive electronic sensor to light to capture a permanent image of a scene.

In the case of the m4/3s and other mirror-less cameras, the shutter has to be open during normal use because you're using the camera as if it is in Live View mode to frame a picture. That's why we can't view use the m4/3s and other mirror-less camera system with a traditional dslr-type viewfinder.

Unfortunately, this means that 1) the GF-1 is NOT a POINT & SHOOT camera and therefore 2) the GF-1 camera will have a fixed shutter life ( Panasonic has not stated what the shutter life span is) but the good thing is that I think it won't break anytime soon (If I am not mistaken, most modern shutter system are rated for at least 50K clicks). So don't worry about it and enjoy shooting

Boogerschnot, nyek, hindi naman. I just did some reseach before responding, mahirap na po kasi mag bigay ng maling sagot/payo at baka hindi maka tulong hehe. I think I shot less than 500 shots on the gf1 before I sold it as it was my 2nd Gf1
