burning photos from aperture library into DVD-R?

Hello fellow photographers,

Need your help.

What is the right way to burn photos from apreture library to a dvd-r? I'm not sure what exactly i'm doing but whenever i burn photos (version/master) from my aperture library to a dvd-r the quality/file size gets smaller.

eg. a 3mb photo in my aperture library when burned to a dvd decreases to 700kb. why is that?

Please enlighten me!
