My vote was already for the DS but with reviews such as this:
Sony PlayStation Portable PSP-1000 Review: Phew, what a scorcher
and hype such as this:
PSP sets new standard for hand-held gaming,
I actually caught myself drooling.
I won't comment on all of this "iPod Killer" talk though. Try typing "PSP iPod" in Google and you'll see what I mean.

my mom just gave me the DS for my bday and she has the PSP...
I've been playing both right now for the past 2 days and I kinda prefer the PSP still... bigger screen, better graphics... although i've only tried it on one game...
the DS I've already got a few games some are ok like the Sims game (forgot the real name at the moment) and Mario64
Once I try other games for the PSP, then I'll truly know how good it is...
also... I've heard from friends that the PSP Value Pack seems to have a lot of defective units unlike the stand alone PSP unit alone... so be cautious and test the unit first (if you get the value pack)...

the psp will be cheaper than the ds, and considering the amount of pressure sony is putting behind, probably more games. if the games for psp are as good as for the ps2 then the ds will have to settle for the backseat.

Cheaper in what way? The DS retails at around $150. It seems like the PSP is at the $200-$300. Either one is more expensive than a pS2 and a gamecube. PSP games are at $40 while PS2 games on full blown DVDs are $50. The price range is very steep for a gaming console. The DS is backward compatible with the GBA and the accesories that come with the US PSP value pack is not as robust as the JAP version.

The DS sells here for about 11-14k. The PSP JAP sells 20-25k.

PSP definitely. Held one in my hands and the feel was solid, unlike the plasticky feel of the DS. Sadly, units won't arrive in Australia till May.
